HURDCO ICT FAIR 2016-17

The ICT FAIR 2016-17 of HURDCO International School was held at the school premises on Thursday, 26 January 2017. Dr. Lamia Iftekhar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, North South University (NSU) was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Among those present were the Mr. Shah Zakir Hossain, Vice Chairman of HURDCO Ltd. and Mr. Saad Quadir Bin Solaiman, Director, HURDCO Ltd., and distinguished parents and students.
While opening the event, the honourable Principal, Dr. M. Jinnat Ali mentioned how ICT brings knowledge at our fingertips. He also encouraged the students to use their IT knowledge to the benefit of humanity.
Guest Speaker, Director of HURDCO Ltd., Mr. Saad Quadir Bin Solaiman demonstrated how students learn better through IT access and even through playing games. Hence, he encouraged the parents to help their children through positive motivation instead of discouraging them to use the internet entirely.
The Vice Chairman of HURDCO Ltd., Mr. Shah Zakir Hossain emphasized on how technology can be used more positively and inspired the students to use IT for the betterment of their own lives.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Fair, the Chief Guest Dr. Lamia Iftekhar highlighted the ICT aspects in our daily lives with the importance of academics and expressed her high impression on the arrangements made by the school for organizing the Fair. Dr. Lamia, through her powerpoint presentation enlightened the students about world robotics and how this can be used in the context of Bangladesh.
The HURDCO ICT Fair comprised mainly of two parts, one of which was the ICT Fair Competitions and the other one was Project Display. The Selection Rounds of Preschool, Junior school and Senior school competitions were held from 15 to 19 January, 2017 and the Final Round took place on 23 and 24 January 2017. The Final Round Competition of Preschool students took place on 26 January 2017. The Project Display consisted of 145 projects from the Junior and Senior schools which were displayed in our campus for our guests and adjudicators. There were two teams of adjudicators from NSU and IUB Computer Clubs who evaluated the projects.
